News & Events: What the Experts Say

“Q1 Labs has a strong solution, with clear collateral that provides a simple message – a message that isn't bound up with a plethora of products and services that could be confusing to prospects. Indeed, it should be easier to sell one comprehensive appliance that a multitude of integrated or non-integrated products, even though the market becomes much narrower as a result. The company also does well at highlighting its partnerships, which also offer both visibility and credibility to the company.”

The Daily Incite

“The enterprise buying cycle is always very interesting, just in that after a certain amount of time certain technologies become "acceptable" enough for more conservative companies to buy. Over the past 18 months, we've seen that with IPS. What's funniest is that most customers don't really know why they are buying the products, but it's in the budget - so they buy it. So a couple of years after a new category emerges, the mainstream figures it must work (because it's still around) and they put it in the budget. Seems that next up on the list is NBAD (network based anomaly detection) and as this story shows, database security.”

CIO Update

"There is an opportunity to secure the network fabric by combining the functions of NetFlow-based behavior modeling, the switch, IPS and firewalls. One result of the proposed secure fabric is that infected machines would be rendered impotent."

Network Computing SIM Product Review

"Although all the products required time to learn the correlation techniques, we were most comfortable using QRadar's methods."

Network Computing SIM Product Review

The Daily Incite

"Unless you are new to Incite, you get that I'm not a huge fan of SIM. Looking in the rear view mirror is of limited value. But if you can look at both what's happening now and what has happened and correlate it a bit, then that is interesting. Q1 Labs has added the SIM capability to its anomaly detection stuff over the past 2 years, when they realized that the network anomaly detection (NADS) market was inherently limited. Since I'm a fan of doing and not just reporting, this is a novel approach."

Enterprise Management Associates

"As one of the pioneers in applying the network technology of flow analysis to the management of security, Q1 Labs has demonstrated that it understands why security convergence is so important, and the value that their technology can add to a clearer understanding of the IT security posture in a real-world context.”

"QRadar's correlation language is one of the easiest to learn. Unlike the rule-building sets in products from ArcSight and Symantec, QRadar's scripting language is probably as close to English as you're going to get. It's also somewhat hierarchical and recyclable, letting you use what Q1 calls 'building blocks' to string logic sequences together. Althout all the products required time to learn the correlation technologies, we were most comfortable using QRadar's methods."

The Wall Street Journal

“Network analysis software from such companies as Q1 Labs Inc. of Waltham, Mass., monitors what goes on inside a company’s computer network, what applications are running on individual computers or who accesses a particular document. They can be especially useful for investigating an internal security breach.”
