Shaun McConnon - CEO

Shaun McConnon has guided high technology start-up companies through successful IPOs. He has orchestrated multiple mergers and acquisitions, and he has held senior management positions in sales, marketing, and operations. Shaun served as CEO of Okena Inc., a next-generation network security company. He led Okena from inception to its successful acquisition by Cisco Systems in 2003. Also, as CEO of Raptor Systems, he guided that firewall security company through a successful IPO and then its sale to Axent Technologies. Prior to joining Raptor, Shaun held various executive positions with Sun Microsystems, most recently as managing director of Australian and New Zealand operations. Shaun holds a bachelor of science in biology from Roanoke College.

Brendan Hannigan - President & COO

Brendan brings over 20 years of industry experience to Q1 Labs. Before joining Q1 Labs, Brendan was vice president of marketing at Sockeye Networks (a route-optimization firm acquired by Internap), where he led all marketing and product management functions. Previously, as director of network research at Forrester Research, he oversaw the firm’s most successful practices, covering enterprise networks, security technology and public network services. Before Forrester, Brendan served in a variety of senior product-development roles at Digital Equipment Corp., Wellfleet Communications and Motorola. Brendan graduated with honors in computer science from University College, Dublin, Ireland.

William "Sandy" Bird - CTO

Sandy Bird, co-founder and CTO of Q1 Labs, is responsible for the company's strategic technology direction. Sandy has extensive technology experience specializing in database design and development for web applications. Prior to Q1 Labs, he held a variety of technical positions at the University of New Brunswick in support, development and administration. Sandy studied Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick.

Daniella DeGrace - VP of Customer Solutions

Daniella DeGrace, a veteran of the networking and software industries, oversees all of Q1 Labs’ global customer support and professional services operations. She brings to the company a wealth of experience in both technology integration and customer support and a successful track record in building international customer service operations for technical organizations. Most recently, she was vice president of customer solutions delivery at Alcatel, where she was responsible for the delivery of Alcatel’s broadband IP video solutions and professional services. Prior to that, Daniella held a number of roles at iMagicTV, including managing director EMEA, vice president of global sales and customer solutions, and senior director of engineering. At iMagicTV, a software company that enabled service providers to deliver interactive media services over a broadband network, she developed a worldwide support infrastructure—including customer service, solution engineering and professional services—to service the company’s contract wins around the world. She also managed the company’s worldwide sales efforts. Before joining iMagicTV, Daniella was a Solution Technical Architect at IBM, a lead system engineer at Network General and a network manager at Hydro Quebec.

Chris Fanjoy - VP of Engineering

With more than 15 years of experience in leadership roles including founder, chief architect and vice president, Chris Fanjoy brings international expertise in software development and technology start-ups to Q1 Labs. Most recently, as the Vice President of Field Services for Kinek Technologies, he provided direction and support to the project delivery organization. Chris co-founded NetIgnite in 1998, which was acquired by Webb Interactive Services, serving as the CTO. Chris was founder and Chief Architect of MapQuest.com, the world leader in online, voice, and wireless mapping and driving direction systems. Chris earned a Bachelor of Computer Science from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Bob Fincke - VP of Finance

Bob Fincke has been at the financial helm of successful technology enterprises for the past 20 years. He has guided software firms through two rounds of venture financing, acquisitions, and a successful IPO. Bob was a principal at New Venture Consulting, where he established financial strategy and built finance functions from the ground up for start-up companies. Among his success stories are Authentica, Idiom Technologies, iPhrase, BlueStreak, Okena, and Terapulse. Bob was also VP Finance for Raptor Systems, a profitable network security software developer that went public and was later sold to Symantec. At Raptor, he had responsibility for strategic planning, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, and budgeting. Before Raptor, Bob held various finance positions with Sun Microsystems and Wang Laboratories.

Tom Turner - Vice President of Marketing

Tom Turner has security industry experience with early stage and enterprise companies. Prior to joining Q1 Labs, Tom served as director of marketing for endpoint security at Cisco Systems where he helped elevate the company to the #2 position in the host-based IDS/IDP market. Prior to Cisco, Turner was vice president of marketing for OKENA, Inc., where he and CEO Shaun McConnon pioneered the intrusion prevention market and led the company to its successful acquisition by Cisco. Previously, Turner managed the marketing and database security product strategy for BrainTree Security Software which was acquired by PentaSafe (now NetIQ) in July 2000. Turner holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom.

Jon Fraleigh - VP of Worldwide Sales

Jon brings over 25 years of experience in sales management, sales, and engineering, in a variety of high-tech startups and small to mid-tier public companies. Jon was most recently at Rivulet Communications where he was VP of Sales. At Rivulet he was instrumental in the development and refinement of market and product plans while transitioning the sales process to a channel-oriented model. Jon spent 7 years at F5 Networks where he led the Americas sales team. He built and led that team in delivering a ten fold increase in revenue over three years, from $2M quarterly to almost $30M per quarter. Jon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Computer Engineering and is the holder of two patents.
